I’ve asked the gods for more worthy stops and stays on my most frequented road and they answered with my heart’s desire - Hotel Corazon.

Word on the street was this place was happening, an agrotourismo worthy of your time on the road between Deia and Soller. Opening to the summer season, Hotel Corazón, sits on a small twelve-acre plot, where produce was grown for the local community in the 17th century. Although this property has housed different owners since then, many of the original features (such as the riad-style interior courtyard and a small chapel) remain intact.

With 15 rooms, this place is a hipster haven, hotel, restaurant, farm, art space and shop. It’s LA-concept meets Mallorca mountainside. Moredesign took its typical take on a finca restoration - making it more stark, more plastered and more More with built-ins, rounded corners and a lot of chill-out places. It’s pinkish hues, linens and sheep skins make it a idyllic and otherworldly. According to Kate Bellm, British-born photographer and co-founder, along with her partner (multidisciplinary artist Edgar López) they wanted it to be a place that people could be inspired.

What we’re most excited about is that it’s another option for the young-set of travellers who have a bit of pocket-change and want to be in the best locale.

That and the restaurant and its prime-time valley setting. The chef is legendary culinary sorceress Grace Berrow, who conjures up simple, Mediterranean-inspired dishes that bring out the ingredients natural beauty and flavor. We’re not one to give undue praise but Berrow (formerly of Patiki Beach in Port de Soller) is the OG of fresh, local and delicious meals. Her cucumber-smashed salad and the understanding of how to use burrata has us worshipping at her feet. Even the beverages are infused with her culinary prowess; I’ve opted to take her herbal lemonade over a glass of crisp white wine. We’ve stopped three times in the last month for lunch; and taken an extra 20 minutes to lay out on the comfortable couches reading art books and people watching.

While I’m American in origin, I do hope this place draws more of a varied crowd. Deia and La Residencia has been swamped by my compatriots lately and it tends to lose its sense of place. What I love about Mallorca is it is an international melting pot and like a German colleague recently told me, we’re all rowing on the same boat here. I hope Hotel Corazon keeps its heart open to all.

We’d be delighted to book Hotel Corazon for you as a part of a custom Mallorca itinerary. From start to finish, we’ll work with you to create a customized travel experience that meets all your needs and exceeds your expectations.

Mallorca is the Mediterranean dream but it’s also our home; let us open it to you.
